Not as busy as it should be on a Friday

Look at these beauties. And the price ! Better than paying top money in the supermakets for the same thing.
I found this link on Facebook about the councils plans for attracting new traders. Is it going to be enough ?
Stalls are being offered at markets managed by Northumberland County Council for just £10 a day to attract new market traders and provide opportunities for new and start-up businesses.

Not very many stalls on todays market. It's such a shame when the space is there. Come on Blyth Valley Council. Do something about it. Bring the market back to its former glory days.

Another great day spent with the market traders. Met some really nice people today who have been a great help for this project of mine. It was nice to see so many people buying stuff from the stalls and great stalls they were too. Full of little nick nacks and quirky bits and pieces.
I wasn't looking for anything in particular but there was a certain irony when I found this book about Margaret Thatcher, because of her death two days ago, and had a quick look through it snapping as I was looking. Some great memories from the eighties in there, including Live Aid.
The book was damaged in parts, especially the bit about Charles and Diana and ther wedding.Much the same as their marraige I suppose.
It's amazing what you find when you're not really looking.

Three hours spent this morning with some of the market traders. They need a gold medal for turning out in this freezing cold weather. Special thanks to Mark and Lisa with the old fashioned sweetie van for their help and wonderful stories about photography. And to Ronnie, who has a smile for everybody and a battery for every watch ! I'm sure he will correct me on that comment though.
Off back down soon to document the packing up.

Michael Sweeney Memorial - March 30th

So,I went down to the market to capture some of the goings on at the Michael Sweeney memorial. it was really busy and seemed to have attracted the crowds. I was talking to Kim Sweeney and she mentioned that their photographer hadn't turned up and would I be interested in helping out with some photos for the Chronicle. this was a huge honour for me and I was able to get some photos published in Monday's Chronicle to document the event. I have to say it was a real pleasure to meet Kim and Michael on the day.
